A fellow teacher was mentioned on Dr. Jean's Blog!!!

My fellow teacher and friend, Taylor Dinges was featured on Dr. Jean's blog.  She met her at MEGA conference in Mobile, AL a few weeks ago.  Taylor is a developmental k-1 teacher at my school and she LOVES her job.
Here's what she shared with Dr. Jean:

Sign Language

You know how much I LOVE sign language.  aslpro.com is one of my favorite sites because they have a dictionary where you can see someone sign almost any word you can think of.  Taylor Dinges of Madison, AL, said that there is also a free app called isign lite.  I found another free app called alphabet sign language.  Oh, what wonders there are in the app world!

Just have to share a family blog with all of you out there.....one of my sweet little ones has a superblogger for a mommy!  Here is a link to her blog:  www.jupinfamily.blogspot.com.  Their youngest child was born with Down Syndrome a year or so after we moved in next door.  Their other two children are the exact ages of my own children.  When their youngest was born, I never imagined teaching pre-k special ed again although I taught it over 10 years before being a stay-at-home mommy.  That all changed and I am SOOOOO happy where I am and believe God has a plan for me and I am thankful for Ben and all my other special angels at school.  I can't wait for the day they bring their new child, Davis home from Russia!  They are in the process of adopting a special needs child (hopefully this year!) who will also be in my class!!!  Look for pictures this week of the cute pennant banner Amy made for my classroom.....it's just like the one she made for Ben's room....soooo cute!!! This is a picture from last school year of me & my 2 classroom paraprofessionals (Mrs. Cheryl & Mrs. Josie).  I can't believe teachers go back Aug. 2nd and the kiddos start Aug. 8th!  WOW.....summer is going, going, almost gone!!!

Mrs. Larremore posted about letter D activities and highlighted the book Arnie the Doughnut.  This book is a fav of our family because my son had to do a pumpkin book project and this is how it turned out!  We had a great time making it together!

Summer is here!

Where did the school year go?....and the month of June??  Summer school ends tomorrow and we will have the month of July to rest up for the 2011-12 school year!  Rest up or get ready for....either way it's more time to prepare cute things for my room and indulge myself in the wonderful web-browsing that has become an addiction over the past month!!!   
I can't believe I (as of an hour ago) have a website & a blog.......so, I MUST stop with the stalking and get to updating on a regular basis!!

About my class.......

Just a note to let you know I have 14 children in my pre-k room with 2 wonderful full-time paraprofessionals.  Nine of my students have I.E.Ps. (most with developmental delays, autism and physical limitations).  I LOVE my pre-k kiddos!  I teach at Mill Creek Elementary in Madison, Alabama and I LOVE it!  We have 4 developmental pre-k classes at our school and 1 regular pre-k class.  Our school was built last year and I must say it has all the bells and whistles you could ask for.  Our wing has a multipurpose room (pre-k gym), new playground (with fence!), kitchen, washer/dryer area, computer lab and each classroom has a SMARTboard!  I am hoping to post teaching ideas as well as things we do in the classroom.  I hope to post pictures of our school and my room soon.
